Janneke Verkerk appointed new Managing Director of EW Facility Services
October 6, 2022
EW Facility Services has appointed a new Managing Director. On October 14, Janneke Verkerk will take over the role from Bas Cornelissen, who has held the position with great dedication and enthusiasm for the past 10 years. Earlier this year, EW launched its sharpened business strategy along with a new brand promise: Expect more. With this, EW expresses its ambition to deliver five-star hospitality in cleaning services and to positively impact the lives of all the people who work for EW. In this new phase, the organization is now placing its trust in a Managing Director who, together with all EW colleagues, clients, suppliers, and partners, will enthusiastically drive this vision forward.
Entrepreneurial mindset
Verkerk brings a long track record, including experience in the staffing industry. She is known for her customer-focused mindset—aligning client needs with organizational goals in order to grow and develop together through strategic partnerships. And there is certainly a growth ambition: EW aims to reach €140 million in revenue by 2025 within its current market segments. Additional focus is placed on the healthcare and office & real estate sectors, where the organization sees significant opportunities to expand its market share. Verkerk explains: “Of course, hospitality remains a key priority. Especially in healthcare, our people-first approach to hospitality makes the difference. EW also supports healthcare professionals by relieving them of certain tasks. The office & real estate segment will benefit from the major strides EW has made in digitalization, enabling facility managers to make data-driven decisions.”
Doing it together
Growth and development are also important themes within the organization itself. This is reflected in the wide range of training and development programs, and the focus on personal growth and career opportunities. Collaboration and connection are essential to this effort, and Verkerk is committed to further strengthening this foundation. “EW wants to do even better every single day. For our people, our clients, and everyone around them. That requires a strong focus on people, both internally and externally. From nurturing talent and building strong, high-performing teams, to maximizing impact on the guest experience and exceeding market benchmarks for employee and client satisfaction.”
Diverse leadership team
With Verkerk’s arrival, the leadership team now has a balanced male-female ratio and reflects the range of disciplines within the organization. Verkerk says: “Thanks to this diversity, we’re able to look at strategies and innovations from multiple perspectives and personality types. That gives us confidence in the future and in the steps we are about to take.”
A symbolic moment
After nearly 25 years with EW, Bas Cornelissen felt it was time for a new chapter. He will take on a leadership role within Cire Facility Group, the shareholder of EW Facility Services, and remain involved as a member of EW’s Supervisory Board. He will symbolically pass the baton to Verkerk during the EW Weekend, a two-day event with around 250 colleagues. This weekend tradition has existed since EW’s founding and is a well-loved fixture in the company’s culture. Teams compete in fun challenges and the event concludes with a celebration. It will be a meaningful starting point for Verkerk to immerse herself in EW’s culture and begin her new adventure.
